I started to get very discouraged and frustrated. I didn't feel like I had anything more to give. So last night I spoke honestly, but respectfully, to the Lord and asked Him for something special to happen today in church. I don't usually need much to keep me going, but I needed something and God gave it to me. Not only was our attendance good this morning, but a group of 11 people from out of town visited us. They were looking for a church to bless and last night they felt like God was directing them to us. And I can tell you, it was God. This mornings service was powerful, anointed and full of the Spirit. The visiting group prayed for Kim and I and prophesied over us. They were very positive, up lifting and encouraging. And, praise the Lord, we were able to be a blessing to them as well. One of the ladies said that we were going to be a doorway to the community. The very thing we have been praying to be. God is good! He has not left us or forsaken us. These are difficult days. Things are going to grow worse in this world, but God is going to be glorified, and the Kingdom of God is going to be powerful and effective. We can't give up. God is in control! Pastor Tim Our Stolen Tractor. Monday August 4, 2008 Monday morning, July 28th, I received an early morning call from our builder asking where our tractor was. To our shock and amazement, someone stole it! This was a real blow because that tractor gets used at least 5 hours a day every day. In other words, we really need a tractor. We called the police and insurance company to make the necessary reports. And, I thought I should check with Siever’s Equipment to see if they have anything like what we lost. They only had one used tractor available at the moment. Here is the miracle: We had a 2002 TC33D with 550 hours on it. The only used tractor Sievers had was a 2002 TC35D with 550 hours on it. Our policy will cover the replacement of our tractor up to $17,000.00. Siever’s wants $17,000 for theirs. Also, we took the backhoe off of our tractor on Thursday so that they could maneuver it better while spreading gravel, so the thieves didn’t get the backhoe. Our backhoe fits on the TC35D. And, to our good pleasure, we discovered that even though there is only a 2 horsepower difference, the new tractor is larger and has many features that make it much better suited for our needs. We expect delivery of it on Monday, August 4th. MAPS RVers. Monday August 4, 2008 On July 17th, I met with the Zoning and Planning Committee of Madison County to get approval to allow MAPS RVers temporary set up on our property. MAPS RVers travel around the country helping Assembly of God churches build their facilities, for nearly nothing. To my surprise, one of the council members, was overly concerned about it and asked that they table the motion until the next meeting, August 7th. This had the potential of setting us back pretty bad since the window of opportunity is slowly closing. (RVers don’t like Illinois winters.) And, if we are not allowed MAPS RVers we would end up short on our goals for building this new church building. On Tuesday, July 29th, I received a call from Jack Minner, one of the Council members. Jack is the father of Mark Minner, one of our church members. Jack was on vacation during the July 17th meeting, but when he heard about what had happened, he took up our cause. He told me that the council has a history of allowing churches to do what they need to do to be able to help people. He assured me that there won’t be any problems getting approval since our request is not that unusual or unreasonable and since there is only one member that is concerned about our request. He said that he would make sure that our request would go through, and he said we could go ahead and prepare to have the RVers come in. Headache Gone Instantaneously A couple of months ago I was preparing to do a funeral. About 30 minutes before it was about to start I was dealing with a severe migraine headache. I had it most of the morning and nothing was taking it away. So I stopped and prayed, "Lord, please take this headache away. I can hardly see straight, much less think straight." As soon as I said, "Amen," the headache went away instantaneously. It happened so quickly it took me by surprise. I have NEVER had a headache go away like that before, and it didn't come back the whole rest of the day. THERE IS A GOD! Praise the Lord! Pastor Tim Severe Back Pain Healed Just before our church was ready to begin building our new facility, I suddenly hurt my back. I am not sure what I did, but the pain in my back and down my leg was unbearable. It was a hot searing kind of pain, like I had a live electrical wire going off. The only way I could find relief was to sit in a chair. Attempting to stand upright and walk was unbelievably painful. I had to stop to rest half way between the living room and the bathroom. After the second day and with no relief I went to the doctor. I had an MRI and it was determined that I had ruptured 2 discs in my lower back. They wanted to try physical therapy first. As painful as it was, I went for 3 days (Thur. Fri. and Sat. am), but it only seemed to make it worse. Now it was not only painful when I tried to walk, but soar all the time. I couldn't seem to find relief anyway. Sunday was coming and I felt that I needed to preach. I felt like God was telling me to go to church and He was going to heal me. On Sunday morning I was hurting as much as before. I got prayed for a several times, but to no avail. So I had someone put a chair on the floor in front of the communion table so that I could preach sitting down. With sweat pouring down my face I attempted to get up a few times while preaching, but still no relief, the pain forced me back down. BUT, I was deep into the Word and really getting into what I was preaching when I stood for a fourth time. After a minute or two I began to notice that the pain was no longer there. Before I said anything I tried walking and moving around - but still no pain. Then I stopped and could preach no more. I started to cry as I realized that God had healed my back. I was able to finish my message and stand in the foyer to mingle with the people PAIN FREE. Accept for a little soreness the next day, the pain never came back, not to this day. And, I did help build the church, including LOTS of bending over and heavy lifting. God is Amazing!
